JSF Brushes Conveyor Belt Cleaning Brushes

JSF have been producing conveyor belt cleaning machines and brushes for many years.  We have supplied machines into many industries including:

Mining - iron ore, bauxite, diamond, coal, gold
Processing - alumina, food, sugar mills, foundries, brickworks, cement works, building products, salt works, etc.

JSF can design and build the machine to suit the individual site layout, and whenever possible, will use standard componentry.

The machine is usually mounted under the head drum, so that the rotating brush will sweep residue material from the belt, and allow it to be collected.  The standard JSF conveyor belt cleaning unit is as illustrated left.
However, in many instances this "standard" configuration is not suitable for the specified mounting location.  JSF Brushes can alter the geometry of the mounting unit to suit different mounting positions.  Typical site locations are shown below.

TYPE 1 TYPE 2 TYPE 3 TYPE 4

JSF conveyor belt cleaning machines can be supplied with either two types of brushes:

  • Helical construction, using S.G. iron castings and twelve helically formed, strip brushes
  • Spirally wound construction, using spirally wound, strip brush fitted to a steel core

1. Helical Construction, S.G. Iron Spider Brush

  • These brushes are made to a 300mm minimum diameter because of the seating diameter (150mm) on the S.G. iron castings
  • The brushes are produced in a kit form, by assembling the heavy duty SG Iron castings onto a shaft, and then fitting 12 metal backed, helically formed, strip brushes into the six location spaces
  • The brush can be made to accommodate different belt widths by increasing the number of spiders and the length of each helically formed strip brush
  • JSF have produced both right hand and left hand S.G. Iron castings, for either a right hand or left hand helical brush, or a chevron construction
The main advantage of this type of construction is its heavy duty engineering, plus it can be refilled on site
2. Spirally Wound Construction

  • Spirally wound brushes offer greater versatility in terms of brush diameter and brush density
  • Brushes can be made in diameters of 100mm to 450mm, or larger
  • The brushes are produced by spirally winding straight strip brush onto a steel core - again, the brush can be made to accommodate different belt widths
  • the main advantages of this type of construction are:
  • Greater flexibility in the bristle, ideal for contoured belts or where malformation of the bristle is needed, in order to achieve optimum cleaning
  • Ability to vary the brush density
  • Cheaper to produce

Brush  Adjustment

The method of brush adjustment (on either system) is easily done by an independent screw.

This simple method of adjustment, independent of the conveyor frame, allows a brush movement of approximately 1.5mm for each half turn of the screw.
